March is the month to commemorate the importance of vigilant against colon cancer in the world. An organization Colon Cancer Alliance launched “Dress in Blue Day” on March 6 tomorrow to urge Americans to wear blue clothes as a sign of colon cancer awareness.

Colon cancer is the biggest cause of cancer deaths in men and women. The second is lung cancer. Cancer is very dangerous and many people are not aware of it. Yet colon cancer is preventable, one of which is by eating the right foods.

Here are some foods that can prevent colon cancer, as reported by Medical Daily (04/03).

1. Avocado
Avocados contain a lot of fiber which is important because fiber can be processed very easily in the intestine and may reduce the risk of cancerous polyps in the colon. In addition there are some avocado other foods rich in fiber such as oatmeal and whole grains.

2. Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are rich in antioxidants which can be a good choice to dispel various cancer cells. This is because antioxidants will prevent oxidative damage that triggers cancer. Some other foods high in antioxidants are spinach, kale, broccoli, and carrots.

3. Ginger
Ginger contains anti-inflammatory that is good to kill colon cancer cells. Add other ingredients such as garlic, turmeric, oregano, and red onions to enhance the effects of cancer killer in your food.

4. Yogurt
Yogurt contains probiotics which stimulates the intestine and provide intake of good bacteria to maintain a healthy environment in the colon. You can also eat pickles, dark chocolate, and apple cider vinegar to get the same effect.

That’s some good food consumed to prevent colon cancer. Colon cancer is often detected late because people are embarrassed to consult. Before it’s too late, immediately consult you and always eat healthy and nutritious foods.
