Being lonely is certainly something that most people do not want to experience. It has many negative impact for the human body and mind. It is even known that loneliness can make people fat.

According to the Huffington Post, one study found that people who do not communicate with other people tend to die nine years sooner than those with good social interactions. Well, here are five common causes of the emergence of a sense of loneliness.
1. Age
Modernity that shifts the traditional culture makes elderly feel depressed in solitude. In the traditional societies, parents have an important role and prestige which makes them always surrounded by family and society.
However, in the modern era, the role of parents increasingly marginalized due to the bustle of the profession of the children. Therefore, parents are at risk of feeling alienated from their families and their environment.
2. Loss
Death, divorce, and marriage that is delayed or failure of a marriage are often factors of the emergence of a sense of loneliness for some people.
