5 Unexpected Causes of Cancer
We may already know some of the factors that can lead to cancer, such as smoking, unhealthy diet and radiation. Cancer can also be caused by environmental factors and unhealthy lifestyle choices. But there are other factors that can also cause cancer. Here are some unexpected causes of cancer, as reported by Boldsky.
1. Air fresheners or room deodorizers
A study published by The Journal of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology in 2012 states that phthalates, which are commonly found in air fresheners or room deodorizers, help accelerate the growth of cancer. Cancer growth is accelerated by constant exposure to phthalates. Instead of using air fresheners, put fresh flowers or scented candles that provide a refreshing scent to your room.
2. Oral contraceptive pill
Women who use oral contraceptives have a higher risk of developing oral cancer than those who do not use it. But after you stop taking birth control pills, cancer risk decreases. This is because oral contraceptives cause hormonal imbalances. Alternative forms of contraception are considered to reduce the risk of cancer.
3. Night shift
A study found that women who took the night shift have a higher risk of developing cancer than those who stay at home. Although it is not done regularly, night shift that is only done 3 times a week can increase the risk of cancer. If you are forced to do multiply sleep during the day and take supplements.
A study has shown that mouthwash contain ethanol, which is associated with oral cancer. These compounds can damage tissues in the mouth and make you vulnerable to carcinogens such as those in cigarettes.
A study published in 1995 claimed that wearing a bra can cause breast cancer. Although the results of this study have not been proven yet, the scientists said that women who wore bras rarely have muscle tissue that is not too crowded which can reduce the risk of breast cancer.
Those are some little-known cause of cancer. Therefore, you should be more careful, especially in maintaining the health of your body.
