A Beverage to Prevent Senility is Found
It seems that this is good news, for those who often forget, a recent study found a type of beverage can help your memory. This drink combines several essential nutrients to the brain.
Souvenaid, a drink said as a synapses growth stimulant, the connections between cells and the brain. This drink was invented by Dr. Richard Wurtman, a scientist from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “currently research is still done to know whether the drink can be consumed without medical supervision,” said William Thies, vice president at the Alzheimer’s Association, according to Daily Health News.
Data from these studies indicate that these drinks are very likely to work to defend the weak cognition in memory, or even Alzheimer’s patients. There are many reasons known to cause the disease. It was even known that chronic stress causes Alzheimer’s disease. It was also known that lack of sleep can cause Alzheimer’s disease.
In this study, nearly 260 Alzheimer’s patients improved after taking Souvenaid and placebo during the period of six months. The first three months of the study, patients were divided into two groups to detect the level of their memory. Those who consume Souvenaid showed an increase in the brain during memory testing. However, patients taking the placebos actually had memory loss.
Whether Souvenaid will slow the progression of Alzheimer’s, is still not known. Souvenaid itself is formulated by combining three ingredients, namely choline, uridine and omega-3 fatty acids.
Choline is a B vitamin found in meat, nuts, and eggs. While omega-3 acids are obtained from fish, eggs, flax seeds, and grass-eating animals. Uridine itself is produced by the liver and kidneys that will help the formation of protein in the body.
These nutrients, are needed to make the cell membranes of the brain have strong connection. According to experts, if these three ingredients are combined, this will be the maximum formulation for brain work.
In the earlier study, it was also found that Alzheimer’s patients who do not benefit from Souvenaid most likely is due to their brain cell synapses have been lost and can not grow anymore. This drink is still in clinical trials, to determine whether it will be marketed or not.
