Be careful When Storing Foods in the Refrigerator
Many people allow a variety of foods and beverages stored for months in the refrigerator. They tend not to care about the storage of food products in the refrigerator.
Refrigerator’s cold temperatures is beneficial to slow the growth of bacteria. In addition to regularly control the temperature so that it is no more than 4 degrees Celsius, it is also important to notice how long you have kept food products.

Vegetables such as cabbage, cauliflower, celery, green beans, and lettuce, usually can hold up to one week. For asparagus, spinach, and broccoli it can only last three to five days. Mushrooms one to two days. Corn only one day. While carrots and turnips can last up to two weeks. However, it is important to notice the physical condition of the vegetables before cooking. Throw it out if the color begins to change and wither.
Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and cherries begin to rot after three days. Grapes and melons can last a week. Oranges, apples and lemon ranges from two to five weeks, depending on maturity. Canned fruits can only last 2-3 days after the packaging is opened.
Storing a variety of meats in the refrigerator should last no more than two days. And, tolerance of three to five days are only for processed meats like steak, ham, or roast beef. Meat which is not in good conditions are susceptible to bacteria which can contaminate other foods.
Mayonnaise and other salad dressings could only last to three months, although perhaps it will still taste good. Yellow mustard can last longer approximately six months after the packaging is opened. Soy sauce and jam that have been opened should be thrown away after four to six months.
Dairy products should not be stored in the refrigerator for more than five days. Moreover, products that have been opened, it should be consumed on the same day. And, do not hesitate to throw it away if it appears to have unpleasant aroma.
Butter and margarine
For butter with an opened package, it can last one to three months, depending on the condition of the product. If you want it to be maximum, store it in the freezer. While margarine tends to last longer, about four to five months.
Do not get used to store cheese for too long. Throw it away if it is seven days. Notice the texture of the cheese thoroughly before eating it because it tends to mold quickly. However, cheese with a hard texture like cheddar or Swiss cheese, usually can last longer, three to four weeks after the packaging is opened.
Cream cheese can only last about two weeks after the packaging is opened. Get used to test the smell every time you are going to eat it. Remember, after the packaging is opened, the expired date is no longer valid.

Yogurt: 7-14 days
Fruit juice: 7-10 days
