Beware, poor diet can harm the heart
How often have you skip meals? And how much unhealthy food you consume each day? Watch out, a study found that poor diet is able to damage the health of your heart.
Research reported from indiatimes.com shows that poor diet can lead to changes in gene expression (epigenetics) that ultimately makes a higher risk of cardiovascular disorders.
“Without realizing it, one of the forms of unhealthy lifestyles such as poor diet are able to influence the workings of the immune system and even cause atherosclerosis or plaque buildup in the arteries. It is capable of restricting the flow of oxygen-rich blood to other organs and in turn can lower the body’s health, “explains Erik van Kampen, one of the researchers from the University of Leiden, the Netherlands.
“I hope that this study could encourage people to be more concerned with the lifestyle that they run. Skip meals will not make your body become healthy or thin, but instead they can decrease your body’s overall health.”
