Carrots Can Help Increase Brain Quality

carrots improve brain qualityTraining memory is not enough by only using brain-enhancing games, you also have to provide nutrition to maintain the quality of the brain. If before, the berry family are strongly advised as “smart” food because of the content of flavonoids that protect brain cells from inflammation, carrots and olives are now also following the berries functions.

According to Health Day News, a study found that a high intake of fruit can delay cognitive aging, which refers to the activity of the brain such as thinking, remembering, and logic.

Compounds in carrots and olive oil help reduce inflammation associated with brain and memory capacity deficits, as we age. This compound is called luteolin.

According to a research from the University of Illinois, in addition to these two types of fruit, luteolin are also found in peppers, celery, peppermint, rosemary, and chamomile.

The research was carried out by the method of luteolin  dietary in rats. Adult rats given intake of luteolin are shown to have similar levels of brain inflammation in young rats. That is, the inflammation can be minimized.

Luteolin, which are given for four weeks can prevent the normal aging process that produces inflammatory molecules. These molecules highly contribute to memory problems and memory itself.

“When we give luteolin to adult rats, this substance reduces inflammation in the brain significantly. At the same time, the memory also works better, in fact almost the same as the quality of memory in young rats,” said Rodney Johnson, a professor from the University of Illinois who did this fieldwork.
