Cheese Can Help Prevent Diabetes

July 25, 2012 By: Roberto Category: Diabetes

cheese prevents diabetesFor women who want to become slim, cheese is one of the foods to avoid. Because, as one of the dairy products that contain fat, cheese is considered to disrupt a diet.

However, the results of a study published in the ‘American Journal of Clinical Nutrition’, are likely to change the paradigm. Cheese is proven to prevent the occurrence of diabetes. This is great as it is known that diabetes can cause fatal complications.

The disease is known as one of the greatest health risks the world faces today, with a projected 550 million cases in 2,030 patients.

Diabetes itself occurs because of damage to the cells that produce insulin, so the body loses its ability to balance blood sugar.

According to the Telegraph, the process of fermentation that occurs in cheese actually causes a reaction that can prevent the body from the threat of diabetes and heart attacks.

Although it contains saturated fat, but cheese is also rich in other types of fats which are beneficial to health. Among the many dairy products, these good fats can only be found in cheese and yoghurt.

Although it sounds exciting, but cheese lovers are urged to still be aware. “We still recommend setting a balanced diet rich in vegetables and fruits, and low in fat and salt,” said Iain Frame, head of the research.
