Stress certainly gives negative impact for the health of the human body. Previously it was even discovered that stress weakens memory ability.

Alzheimer’s disease itself can be caused by various factors. Based on a study by scientists, even a lack of sleep can cause Alzheimer’s disease.

A recent research conducted by scientists from the San Diego School of Medicine about stress showed that chronic stress causes the production and accumulation of tau protein in brain cells of rats. Tau protein is a protein that is widely available in the neurons or in the central nervous system.

The tau protein in brain cells of rats that were observed during the study is the same with the tau protein found in Alzheimer’s disease in humans. The results were published online in the ‘Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences’ journal, reported in medindia.

Stress is a natural response to difficult situations that one feels. Stress is also associated with psychiatric conditions, such as anxiety and depression. In specific cases, not all types of stress are harmful. “Acute Stress, which can occur at any time, is proven to be useful to help improve the plasticity of the brain and develop the learning process.

Chronic stress is harmful. This is because chronic stress brings pathological changes in the body that are known to have a number of health implications. The findings of recent studies confirm previous clinical findings that show that people who are vulnerable to stress are more likely to be affected by sporadic Alzheimer’s disease.

During experiments conducted in rats, repeated episodes like stress in humans is resulted in phosphorylation and alter the solubility of tau protein nerves. This process is most obvious in hipocampus which is where the memory and also the first and hardest hit during the course of Alzheimer’s pathology.

Since stress could provide many negative impact for our health, it is best that people should always avoid stress. For those who already experience stress, they should try to fight the stress they suffer. There are many ways to fight stress, one of which is from the food we consume. Try to beat stress with the right choice of foods.
