It is believed amongst some Candida experts that when candida rises in the body it can lead to loss of memory, tiredness, poor concentration, depression, and a desire for sweet foods and drinks, as well as much more. There are several reasons why the candida in your body may have increased including diabetes, prolonged courses of antibiotics, smoking and pregnancy.

Cleansing if you have a candida infection is vital. A candida cleanse is about looking at your diet and making sure you clean your body out, in particular the gastro intestinal tract. In order to successfully get rid of a yeast infection completely you need to make changes in what you eat and drink so that you can avoid the foods that encourage or enable the yeast to grow.

If a person has severe candidiasis, a cleanse needs to take way things like refined sugars from the body for at least a week as the fungus in particular feeds on sugar. When that week is done you can try eating fruits if the specialist or doctor thinks your body is ready for them. Carbohydrates are also something that have to be taken out during this time. Only eat foods that are low in carbs such as vegetables that are non starchy, turkey and chicken. After that week you can go up to 60 per cent of previous intake for the first few weeks.

Other foods such as mushrooms, breads and cheeses also need to be avoided, basically cut out yeast, fungi and fermented foods for that week too. Yogurt is good to eat if it is plain, as it is a great source of the good bacteria you need to replenish so that they can return to keeping the candida growth under control. The cleansing is to re-balance your body and anti-microbial herbs can also help you achieve that balance.

Your cleansing length depends on the severity of your condition. Try to get regular exercise while you cleanse to improve your overall health and immunity. Doing such a cleanse twice a year is a good idea as a preventative measure. Improvement may take longer than you would hope so be patient. Some find after a month they see differences and for others it takes several. Once symptoms are reduced you can begin to reintroduce the foods you have cut out, but slowly.
