Consume Vitamin D if You Want to Have a Long Life
From now on, it is better for you to watch your intake of vitamin D for your body. There are many various ways you can get the intake of vitamin D, you can get it through supplements, dairy products, fish, orange juice, or simply do outdoor activities to get exposed to the sun.
Based on a recent study which was conducted by the Oregon State University, it was known that vitamin D deficiency in adults will increase the risk of death. This was quoted by Ivillage in their article.
These results are deduced through the analysis which was conducted on 4,300 respondents aged 60 years and over. Those who have low levels of vitamin D, have 30 percent greater risk of death compared with those who have high vitamin D intake.
“This shows the importance of checking or screening to assess the level of vitamin D in the body, especially in adults,” said one member of the research, Ellen Smit, in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
The researchers did not determine whether low levels of vitamin D will contribute to the weakness or vulnerable to health problems. “But, if you have both of these issues, it is likely to have even greater risk of dying,” said Smit.
The role of vitamin D in the body is needed for bone strength and muscle function. Thus, it is reasonable that small number of vitamins would affect the overall function of the body.
