Cutting your hair regularly can make the hair layer remain strong and prevent hair tip branching.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the average hair growth is from 0.5 to 1 inch per month.

But at a certain moment, some of the hair roots (about 15 percent or more) will experience a growth hiatus, which will eventually fall out.

It is estimated that there are about three months, there is no activity within the follicle. This means that at certain times there is no hair growth on the scalp. With diligent hair cut every 2 months the hair growth can be maintained.

While every day someone would lose their hair, either because of a normal process or because of a damage. Normally people will lose as much as 50 to 100 hairs every day.

According to HowStuffWorks, hair which is never cut, could continue to grow an average of 2-6 years depending on the characteristics of the hair. If it is more than 6 years, the hair will not grow again or die.

Recommendation of having a hair cut every 1.5 to 2 months is also suitable for hair that is often in the blow-dry, colored or too frequently exposed to the sun.

Hair also can stop growing due to several factors, including pregnancy, lactation, malnutrition or hormonal imbalances.

The best way to increase hair growth besides cutting the edge, is to eat foods rich in protein, like meat, eggs, soy and nuts  which are packed with protein to build strong cells throughout the body. Supplements such as vitamin E and D also can promote healthy hair cell division and can accelerate the process of hair growth as a whole.

Hair consists of three layers. The top layer is a layer of strong amino acid, at this stage is known as the cuticle. Middle layer is also made of protein, namely the crust. And the last layer does not exist on thin or blond hair, which is a layer called the medulla.

Nearly 91 percent of the hair is built tough with protein and amino acid composition. Cutting your hair regularly can make the hair layer remain strong and prevent hair tip branching.
