But unfortunately, not all people can get pregnant. Some people are unlucky not being able to conceive because of various reasons. Some others, have the potential of getting pregnant, but find difficulties that are also caused by various reasons.
Getting Pregnant is sometimes difficult
But sometimes this matter is not as simple as it sounds. There are many women out there who for various reasons, just can not have babies. For some women, getting pregnant is not an easy task. There are many things that can cause infertility in women.

Don’t stay up late!
Here is a new tip for you who want to get pregnant: Don’t stay up late! I know, it sounds like an advise from your mom or grandma, but this advise actually came from researchers in San Antonio.
According to a research I read in indiatimes, staying up late and sleeping with the lights still on is capable of interfering with the production of fertility hormones. This is certainly something that I personally did not know before. Since usually staying up late is well known to be linked with weight gain and obesity.
The research was conducted by a scientist from the University of Texas, San Antonio, J. Russel Reiter. Russel is a professor of cell biology in the University.
The role of melatonin hormone
Russel mentioned the importance for women to sleep on time and not to stay up late. Staying up late will indeed cause lack of sleep. He also suggest that the room should have a quiet and calming atmosphere with dimmed lighting. This will boost a women’s reproductive health to become maximum.
“Sleeping on time with a dimmed room atmosphere is important so that a woman’s reproductive health can be maximized,” said Professor Russel Reiter.
Lights that are dim, according to Russel, will influence the production of melatonin. In humans, melatonin is produced by the pineal gland, a small endocrine gland located in the center of the brain but outside the blood–brain barrier.
Production of melatonin by the pineal gland is inhibited by light to the retina and permitted by darkness. Its onset each evening is called the dim-light melatonin onset (DLMO).
According to Professor Russel Reiter, women need melatonin hormone for their fertiliy, because melatonin can protect women’s egg cells from damage that could be caused by free radical. He also states that the production of melatonin in the human body is produced maximum during sleep.
“Melatonin is a hormone that is needed for the fertility of women to protect their egg cells from free radical damage. And the body can produce it at max when you’re asleep,” he added.
So if you are currently trying to get pregnant, there is no harm for you to try the above tips. Try to get enough sleep and avoid staying up late. If you do not have work that is very urgent, it is best for you to try to immediately go to bed at night and have at least 7-8 hours of sleep in one night.
Some of you may have your own reasons to stay up late, but you should always know your priority. This is important because although it sounds trivial, but staying up late could provide negative effects on your overall health. This the downside of lack of sleep. Below you can see a brief explanations of other negative effects of staying up late for your body.
Staying up late negative effects
Staying up late at night or some say ‘being a night owl’ is often done by many people in the modern day. Some have to do work, some like to hang out with friends, and some maybe have insomnia. What ever the reason you should already know that staying up late is definitely not good for you health.
The most common disadvantage of staying up late is that it can make you fat. There are already many research to back up the idea. It is quite obvious that if you stay up late you will feel hungry and tend to eat snacks, admit it we all experienced this right? Snacking at night will surely add extra weight to your body, so staying up late is simply not recommended.
In a study that I read in Live Science, it was also said that often staying up late have the same bad effects for your health with not sleeping at all. This is why experts always warn people to get enough sleep.
In the article, it was mentioned that Dr. Chiara Cirelli, from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and her colleagues did a research on the effect of staying up late on people’s health. They did a study in rats and found that rats who only slept for four hours at night in five consecutive nights had the same effect on the brain with one night of total sleep deprivation.
You can see from the brief explanation above that there is no benefit of staying up late for your health. Therefor you should always sleep on time and get enough sleep so that your body also gets enough rest.
