Drinking diet soda could actually help lose weight!
Diet soda is produced with fewer calories for those who are dieting or trying to lose weight. But so far, many studies have not found a link between diet soda consumption with weight loss. But recent research suspect that drinking diet soda can actually promote weight loss.
Even so, a recent study in the Obesity journal found that diet soda is actually able to help lose weight. The study revealed that people who consume diet soda managed to lose more weight than people who only drink mineral water, this is as reported by the App for Health.
Based on the research of James O Hill of the University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center, this study suggests that diet soda could actually help you lose weight. These results clearly counteract previous myth that believed diet soda can not help you lose weight and actually makes people gets fatter.
The results were obtained by researchers from the University of Colorado and Temple University after doing experiment over 12 weeks in 303 participants who were obese or overweight. Approximately 80 percent of women with an average age of 47 years. Subjects were divided into two groups, namely who consumed diet soda and a group that only drank mineral water. The rest of their diet and exercise were the same.
This study shows that about 64 percent of participants who consumed diet soda lost weight compared with only 43 percent of participants who consumed mineral water only. Meanwhile, participants who consumed diet soda also reported that they feel full faster and are not hungry when compared to participants who consumed only water alone.
In a previous study, it was known that diet soda increase risk of stroke.
