Drinking soda is as dangerous as smoking!
A recent study revealed that drinking soda beverages containing artificial sweeteners as dangerous as cigarettes. Drinking soda-rich artificial sweeteners claimed will make rapid aging of body cells, as well as cigarettes. These results were obtained after the researchers observed differences in the cells of people who frequently consume soda with never drinking soda.
The study, published in the American Journal of Public Health Researchers was conducted during 1999 and 2002 in adults in the United States who have no history of diabetes or heart disease.
The researchers concluded that consuming artificial sweetened soda will make the white blood cells become rapidly aging. White blood cells become damaged quickly. The same thing happens when people often smoke, as reported by the Health Me Up (31/10).
Even so researchers argue that the dangers of smoking on the body is still more dangerous than soda. However, concerning the ability to make rapid aging of cells, soda as dangerous as cigarettes. People often consume soft drinks also have a higher risk of developing diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and stroke.
When observing chromosomes participants, researchers found that consuming soda regularly will shorten telomeres. Telomeres are essential for DNA collection of cells. Will be shortened telomeres when people grow older and can not regenerate. When it is too short, telomeres will make the cells die. In other words, the consumption of soda not only shortening of telomeres, but also can shorten the life.
Short telomeres are not only found when people consume carbonated beverages, but also people who have the habit of smoking or drinking fruit juice. This is probably because a lot of sugar content in fruit juice, although natural though. To avoid this, you should reduce drinking sodas or smoking, and drinking fruit juice from now on.
