Electronic Cigarette, Healthy Smoking Alternative?
In recent years, electronic cigarette packaging is increasingly becoming an option. Since it was introduced in China in 2003, many are switching from conventional cigarettes to E-cigarettes. The reason? Electronic cigarettes claim to be a safer option for health.
However, recent studies have pointed out that these cigarettes were more dangerous than tobacco cigarettes. In fact, those who try to quit smoking instead choos electronic cigarettes as a transition to quit smoking.
As we all know, smoking is the biggest contributor to the deaths caused by heart disease. According to Health Day News, in this study, the scientists conducted a study of cardiac function in 20 tobacco smokers, and 22 electronic smokers. Age 25 to 45 years old.
As a result, the tobacco smokers experience an increase in blood pressure and heart rate. While electronic cigarettes have only minimal function of the heart. That is, the nicotine in cigarettes is absorbed by the body at a lower rate, when compared with tobacco cigarettes.
“It is too early to conclude if the electronic cigarette is healthier than smoking tobacco. Potential health problems remain,” said study author Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos in a press conference.
“It needs a lot more clinical testing, before advising people to switch to electronic cigarettes. Gynecology and nicotine fluid that is converted into smoke in electronic cigarettes is still harmful to the heart,” added Farsalinos, from the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, Athens, Greece.
