Facts about Cellulite You Should Know
Cellulite is a condition which generally affects women, wherein fat deposits become visible under the skin, giving it a dimpled effect. This condition generally occurs on the thighs and bottom. There are a number of factors which can cause cellulite. Excess estrogen, caused by hormonal imbalance or excess weight, can lead to cellulite. Imbalanced blood glucose levels can also cause cellulite. A weakening of the connective tissue located just beneath the skin can also result in cellulite.
Cellulite generally occurs when underlying fat deposits begin to push through layers of collagen fibres, beneath the skin.
Women also tend to have more cellulite than men, because we carry more fat around our hips and thighs. Also, as women get older we tend to produce less estrogen, which can lead to poorer circulation and cause a decrease in new collagen production.
Women who are overweight also tend to have more cellulite as the fat underneath the skin, is more likely to put stress on the connective tissue and make it bulge out. But, thin women also suffer from cellulite and it can also affect women who exercise and eat healthy.
Regular exercise can help decrease the appearance of cellulite and it helps burn excess fat and build more lean muscle. (healthmeup)
