Five Health Benefits of Rosemary Leaves

Since long time ago, rosemary’s health benefits had already been used as herbal medicine. Substances contained in the leaves are known to have positive benefits for the body.

Well according to Health, here are five health benefits rosemary leaves:

1. Improve memory
If you need to memorize something, you could try breathing in the scent of a rosemary. According to a study published in the ‘International Journal of Neuroscience’, inhaling rosemary makes your memory better.

“The smell of rosemary contain compounds associated with neurotransmitter systems, associated with memory,” said the study’s lead author, Mark Moss, PhD, head of the department of psychology at Northumbria University, UK.

2. Overcome bloating
Drinking tea or warm water mixed with a little rosemary can help overcome bloated stomach by reducing water retention.

3. Keeps scalp healthy
If your scalp feels dry and itchy, Ranella Hirsch, assistant professor of dermatology at ‘Boston University School of Medicine’, suggested you to use rosemarry oil on the scalp. That’s because this oil can increase blood circulation which can cope with itchy and dry scalp.

Simply mix 1/4 cup of honey, 1/4 cup of olive oil and three drops of rosemary oil. Warm the oil, but do not let it too hot. Then, massage the scalp with the oil mixture. After that, cover your hair with a towel and leave it for 30 minutes. Then clean it with shampoo.

4. Loosen muscles
You also can use rosemary leaves to stretch your muscles. According to Trisha Shirey, owner of Lake Austin Spa in Texas, rosemary contains substances that can reduce muscle tension.

The way is by mixing 1/4 cup of sea salt, chopped fresh rosemary leaves, three tablespoons of olive oil and three drops of rosemary essential oil. Massage the tense muscles with these ingredients.

5. Prevent Cancer
Always add rosemary on a steak or other grilled foods. That’s because rosemary contain antioxidants that can reduce the levels of carcinogenic substances in food that is grilled up to 92 percent. Carcinogenic substances is a trigger of cancer. Simply sprinkle a bit of rosemary that had been sliced ??on your grilled meals.
