Greek coffee can make you live long?

Greek coffeeFor most people, a cup of coffee is a morning ritual before they go to work. But a study shows that certain types of coffee can help you live longer.

This result was found when researchers looked at the elderly who lives in Greek Island, Ikaria. The seniors here are known as the people with the longest lives in the world.

They found that a cup of Greek coffee could be the key to maintaining cardiovascular health, according to study results published in the SAGE Journal of Vascular Medicine. Unfortunately, researchers have not found a similar effect with coffee in circulation in the United States or outside of Greece.

“Greek coffee is rich in polyphenols and antioxidants, and has a little caffeine. This seemed to make coffee as a beverage rich in benefits,” said Dr. Gerasimos Siasos from the University of Athens Medical School, as reported by the Daily Mail (20/03).

Seniors living in Ikarian are known to have double the chance to live up to 90 years compared with other old people in Europe. From the results of a study of 142 elderly people aged over 65 years, it was found that those who consume only Greek coffee had better endothelial function.

Greek coffee  may reduce the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure. However, further studies will be conducted to see clearly the effect of coffee on cardiovascular health.
