green tea Health Tips – Green tea is now not just for drinking, especially after several studies showed it’s benefits for health. The latest finding is the use of green tea to protect eyes from glaucoma disease and other eye disorders.

Based on researchers’ analysis, it is known that catechins, the main antioxidant in green tea, effectively maintains eye health. Catechins contain vitamin C, vitamin E, lutein, and zeaxanthin. Tests on a laboratory mice showed these antioxidants can be absorbed by the lens, retina, and other tissues in the eye.

The ability of catechins in reducing oxidative substances that suppress can survive up to 20 hours. “It can be concluded that green tea consumption can help the eye against oxidative substances and free radicals,” said Chi Pui Pang, eye expert of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Eye Hospital.

The results of this study was published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
