Vitamins are also called as organic compound which is used as a nutrient in small amounts in several organisms. The word vitmain emerged from the combination of two words such as ‘vital’ and ‘mineral’ . In the same way a compound is also known as vitamin when the synthesiezed process is done insufficiently in organisms and as a result it is obtained from their diet. So the usages of vitamins depend on both circumstances and especially on specific organism such as ascorbic acid acts as vitamin C in certain animals which are not applicable in many animals.

In the same way vitamin d and k shows their prescence in human diet daily as it depends on the circumstances. Consumers should understand that the word vitamin doesn’t mean it has everything required by a body but contains few of them like dietary minerals, essential fatty acids, and essential amino acids . Consumers should have information that vitamins are used on the basis of their biological and chemical activity and not on the structure. Most of the vitamins are inter-converted in the body in many cases.

Vitamins play major role in the functioning of human body due to its diverse nature of biochemical functions like hormones, antioxidants, mediators in cell signalling, aiding in regulating the cells of the body, and tissue growth and differentiation . Most of the vitamins functions as precursors for various enzymes cofactor bio-molicules which acts as catalysts and substrates in metabolism processing in the body. When act as catalyst vitamins are strained such as enzymes known as prosthetic groups. Vitamins also known as coenzymes for forwarding chemical groups in many enzymes.
