Laziness is Just as dangerous as Smoking
If you think quitting smoking is enough to make your life healthier, it seems that you have to think again.
Without a dynamic activity or exercise, the effect is the same as smoking. More than 90,000 people in the UK every year suffer from heart disease, breast cancer, colon cancer, and diabetes. This amount is only slightly lower than patients with smoking-related diseases, namely 100,000. This is according to a news quoted by Fox.
You are advised to spend some time to exercise, two and a half hours per week to maintain a healthy body. This activity can also be replaced by gardening or doing other household chores that produce sweat.
Researchers at Harvard estimates that a number of lives are lost each year due to lack of exercise. The study, published in The Lancet journal, found that worldwide, one out of ten people die because of lazy lifestyle. Especially in the UK, this figure is higher, ie one in six.
Lead researcher, Dr I Min Lee from Harvard Medical School, said, “Am I surprised that it is comparable to smoking, no. Only about a quarter of the world’s population smoke, but about two-thirds show inactivity. How to train people to exercise is by providing the infrastructure for cycling or pedestrian paths. Unfortunately, London is too narrow for this. ”
Lee also added that anti-smoking campaigns are more successful, than advising people to exercise diligently. While Dr Claire Knight, health information manager at Cancer Research UK, said that quitting smoking is the most important for the prevention of serious diseases. However, the role of physical activity in disease prevention can not be underestimated.
