Living near a beach is good for health?
Many people are worried about the sea and take it as a threat, whether natural disasters or pollution. But researcher Lora Fleming of the University of Exeter in the UK explained that the ocean provides many health benefits.
Although many doctors often advise patients to travel to the sea in order to accelerate the recovery process, but this is the first study to directly discuss the health benefits of being near the sea to health.
“When we are in the beach area, we will definitely feel more calm, it’s for sure,” said another researcher, Mathew White, as quoted from the Mother Nature Network.
But the question, continued White, how many people can feel the peace and tranquility of the impact to one’s health.
Therefore, White and a team of researchers then did some research and checked the data of British people who lived near the beach. The result, they found that residents of coastal areas are reported to have a better quality of health.
“It may be that the condition of the sea is a treatment for some people,” said Fleming.
However, further research is still needed. For example, how much time should be spent so that one can get the maximum health benefits.
The results are then reported to the conference of the American Geophysical Union.
