Lower the Risks of Heart Disease with Dark Chocolate!
Dark chocolate is famous for its delicious taste. In addition to having a good taste, dark chocolate also provide protection for heart health.
A team of researchers from several universities in Melbourne, Australia, conducted a study using a mathematical model to predict long-term health effects of eating dark chocolate every day.
Then, the researchers recruited 2,013 people who have a high risk of heart disease because they have metabolic syndrome, including high blood pressure, obesity, high fat levels in the blood and the inability to control blood sugar. However, participants had no history of heart disease or diabetes, or undergoing blood pressure lowering therapy.
The findings suggest that daily consumption of 100 grams of dark chocolate could potentially prevent 70 non-fatal cardiovascular events and 15 fatal events per 10,000 persons who were treated for 10 years.
Researchers confirmed that this beneficial effect can only be obtained by routinely eating dark chocolate, which contains at least 60-70 per cent cocoa. Milk chocolate or white chocolate can not provide the same benefits.
Cocoa are known as fruits that are rich in flovonoid. This has the effect of antioxidants known to protect heart health.
Previous research has shown that eating dark chocolate can lower blood pressure and improve insulin sensitivity, thus lowering the risk of diabetes. This shows the great health benefits of chocolate.
Besides the benefits you can get for your heart, consuming dark chocolate can also be good for your soul. It is known that chocolate can enhance mood. It was also previously known that chocolate have benefits for the eyes.
