August 14, 2012 By: Jane Category: Wellness

Massage is one way of relieving stress which is quite attractive for urban residents. Gentle pressure on the body is unable to relax their bodies and minds which are likely to have high stress levels.

There are many variants of massages. One is a Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) massage. This massage technique combines ancient Chinese acupressure with modern psychology.

Based on research results, massage is effective in lowering levels of cortisol  stress hormone in the body and send signals to the amygdala sedative to suppress the negative effects of stress, as reported by Women’s Health.

Properly performing this massage on a regular basis also makes the blood circulation improves, better quality sleep, more relaxed muscles and joints, and digestive immune system increases. “As well as improved focus and mental health,” said Jessica Ortner, the producer of documentary film about the development of massage.

Begin with your eyes closed. Imagine relaxing atmosphere. Use the tip of your index and middle fingers to massage pressure points while you give yourself strengthening suggestion three times. “Although I have this problem (specify problem), I accept myself.”

Massage points to relieve stress: the side of the hand, near the end of the brow bone nose, eye socket bone edges, the bottom of the eye, the bottom of the nose, chin, lower neck, and crown.

Do the same with three times the pressure for each point. After all points are stimulated, massage session is closed with a deep sigh breath slowly. Repeat as necessary to feel relaxed. Previously it was also known that massage increases exercise benefits.
