These five mental illness turned out to have same gene rootsA recent study reveals that five different types of mental illness has similar gene roots.

The five types of mental illness are autism, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia. The existence of this study was made ??by experts from the General Hospital in Boston hoping to help doctors understand more about mental illness.

“We have proved there is a specific gene on mental illness that turns out to  have the same properties although so far it looks different,” said lead researcher, Dr Jordan Smoller, as quoted by the Daily Mail (28/02).

There are at least four gene variants associated with five conditions of mental illness. Researchers also reported in The Lancet jornal.

Researchers added that although the five conditions of mental illness are different, in fact they all have similar symptoms.

For example, mood and thinking problems experienced by people with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression. Then the children with ADHD usually have symptoms similar to autism.
