Myths and Facts About Back Pain
Many people often complain about back pain. In fact, 8 out of 10 people had to deal with back pain after doing wrong activities. There are many things which are thought to be the cause of back pain.
But according to methodsofhealing, some things which are considered as the cause of back pain are just myths.
1. Back pain from too much sitting
Experts say if you maintain the same posture for too long, it can cause pain in the back. Back pain can be felt by experiencing muscle tension. The pain is usually felt when you sit down, especially if you do it in the wrong position.
2. Frequent lifting of heavy objects can cause back pain
This statement is not always true. Lifting heavy objects does not always cause back pain. You can get a back pain if your posture is wrong when handling the weight. When you lift heavy weights, you need to keep your head and your back straight and push with your feet. Do not bend or rotate your body while lifting, because this can lead to serious back pain.
3. The pain will go away if we lie in bed
Indeed, rest is very important to help you heal. However, it does not mean you have to remain lying in bed when you have the pain. If you do it for one or two days, it could worsen your health. Specific exercises can help you get rid of back pain. However, to get the best results you should consult a physiotherapist specialist.
4.Obesity can cause back pain.
It is true, excess body weight can cause back pain. Excess body fat will accumulate in various parts of the body that can cause back pain. However, back pain can affect anyone, including those who does not have exsessive body weight.
Besides that, back pain is common for those who never do exercises in a week, but does excessive exercise on weekends. Adequate and regular exercise can reduce the risk of back pain. But do not do it excessively because it can lead to pain, not only in the back but in some other parts of the body.
5. Thin people can also experience back pain
Anyone can suffer from back pain, even those with thin body. For example, people suffering from anorexia will reduce bone density, which leads to compaction of bone and back pain arise.
6. Hard bed can trigger back pain
A study by Spanish researchers showed that people who sleep on hard mattresses have fewer back problems than those who sleep on soft mattresses. However, experts believe that everyone should consider many factors that are often more important than the type of mattress used, for example, the correct sleeping position.
