Often experience cramps during pregnancy? Here are the solutions!
Cramp legs are one of the most common problem that is complained of by pregnant women. Despite complaints that can not be eliminated completely, this problem could have been prevented. Want to know how? Here are five ways to prevent leg cramps during pregnancy, as reported by Mag For Women.
1. Eat a healthy diet
In some cases, leg cramps can be caused by a lack of essential vitamins and minerals in the body such as calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. Therefore, you are strongly advised to eat foods rich in nutrients such as bananas, almonds, green leafy vegetables, etc. You can eat them as a snack everyday.
When pregnant, you are advised to do light exercise such as walking for 10 minutes every 1-2 hours. This simple exercise is recommended for women who are still in the first trimester, with the aim to regulate blood flow in the legs. Do not stand for a long time, because it will aggravate your leg cramps. However, if doctors do not recommend you to do this, do not force your body to do so.
3. Do not sit cross-legged
Sitting cross-legged can prevent and minimize the blood flow in the legs. At rest in bed or when lying down, try to frequently wiggle your toes to improve circulation in the area.
4. Choose the right position!
Try to keep the position of your feet slightly higher than other parts of the body.
You can use warm water filled in bottles or heating pads and put them in the legs to reduce tensions in the area. Do this practice before going to bed.
