Smoking and First Trimester Dangers

Did you notice a fact that if women quit smoking when they were pregnant the infant deaths could be reduced by up to 10 percent? Pregnancy and smoking and first trimester are not circumstances that go together. The good news is that no one can report that a woman who has smoked prior to her pregnancy is putting her baby at risk. However, smoking during pregnancy is very dangerous to an unborn baby.

Pregnancy and smoking and first trimester have been linked to 100,000+ miscarriages and 5,500+ infant deaths per year. Smoking also puts an expectant mother at risk for complications such as vaginal bleeding, premature rupture of the membranes, early delivery and more. Evidence is showing that a pregnant mother who smokes may have a baby who has a low birth weight. Low birth weight and being born too small is a major cause of infant illness and perinatal death. Should you try Ginkgo Biloba?

TV commercials recently show us about the scare of mental impairment from Alzheimer’s Disease. The aging relative who cannot remember the granddaughter’s name or the elder spouse who puts her house keys in the ice box have caused alarm. This has been augmented by spam promoting the latest mental formula, which one presumably needs if he forgets something which is part of his daily routine.

But how much of a problem like this, if you have one, is related to body chemistry? That is, if you are a little forgetful now and then, is it due to a lack of oxygen in your brain cells, which can be corrected by combination of choline and ginkgo biloba, for instance? Or, is your forgetfulness due to preoccupation with something more pressing, or possibly an aversion to what you have to do. In other words, is it a question of body chemistry or psychology? Are You Getting Enough Fiber?

The word of the day ladies and gentlemen is…Fiber! Are you getting enough? Let me tell you about my last few hours relating to this question. I rose at 0600 hours; (that’s 6 am for you civilians), to prepare for the Queen Creek Boot Campers!” Go Team Queen Creek! We had a good workout and afterwords, I was questioned about getting on the scale to check progress. I replied by saying I am not a fan of the scale!
