Should You Drink Warm Water or Cold Water in the Morning?
Should we drink warm or cold water when we wake up in the morning is still a question for most people to understand more about the reasons to drink water.
Some articles suggest that drinking cold water can burn more calories. A few more people believe that drinking warm water is actually good for burning calories.
The question is, for health and weight loss, is there a differences between drinking cold water or warm water?
“We know that anytime we swallow anything with a different temperature than the stable 37 degrees Celsius body temperature, then our body has to work harder,” says nutritionist, Cassie Vanderwall, as reported by Today.
“A study from 2003 found that people who drank ice water experienced a 30 percent improvement in metabolism,” said Lindsay Malone, a registered dietitian at the Cleveland Clinic.
This means the body burns extra 100 calories per day if people drink half a liter of ice water.
“You do not just get a boost in your metabolism rate when you drink cold water, but also from plane water,” said Malone.
Warm water may be better for people who suffer from gastrointestinal disease.
No matter what the temperature is, water has a positive impact on overall health. In the morning, drinking water is also important as you will get the benefits of drinking water with an empty stomach.
“If you are not hydrated, your metabolism will slow down,” said Malone.
