sweet foods reduce weightPudding that consists of 600 calories, protein, and carbohydrates should be enjoyed in the morning, when the body’s metabolism is in an active state and a person can work better with an excess of calories throughout the day.

Jakubowicz and his colleagues argue that avoiding sugary foods can actually create a psychological addiction to various types of sweets in the long run. For that reason,  adding a type of dessert at breakfast may control appetite throughout the day.

During the 32 week study, as revealed in the Steroids journals and quoted by the Daily Mail, participants who add their breakfast with dessert in the form of cakes, bread, and chocolate has been losing 40 pounds of weight more than the other group which avoided sugary foods. They can even maintain the weight in a long term.

Breakfast provides energy in carrying out work, helps brain function, and push the start of metabolism. All that is important for weight loss.

According to Prof. Jakubowicz, breakfast is the most successful food to regulate ghrelin – a hormone that increases hunger. When ghrelin levels rise before meals, at breakfast it is the right time to suppress it.

Based on the results of the study the scientists hope to find out if meal time and its composition has an impact on weight loss in the short and long term or is it simply because the number of calories.

One of the biggest challenges is how to maintain body weight in the long run. Therefore, consuming more servings of calories at breakfast makes sense. It’s not only good for body functions, but also reduces appetite.

“Participants with low carbohydrate intake has a lower sense of satisfaction and feel they are not satisfied,” said Prof. Jakubowicz.

As a result, their appetite for sugar or carbohydrates becomes higher, thus causing them cheating with their diet plan.

“In contrast to the group who ate breakfast more, including dessert, they are not too eager to these types of food in the afternoon or evening,” he said.

This suggests that the diet should be something realistic to be adopted as part of a new lifestyle.

The research team concluded that appetite is better than losing success in weight loss.
