Prolia, New Treatment for Osteoporosis, Approved by FDA

women osteoporosis pictureTherapy to strengthen bones with injections called Prolia has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This drug is intended to reduce damage and increase bone mass and bone strength in postmenopausal women.

Osteoporosis is a condition of reduced bone density so that the bones become fragile and easily broken. Approximately 80 percent of osteoporosis cases occur in women, although men can also experience it. According to the FDA, half of women age above 50 years have experienced bone fractures due to osteoporosis. (more…)
