A quite simple and inexpensive test procedure that can detect heart attacks will be available starting next year. The scientists said that the on going study is very close to the discovery of  heart attack prediction.

A blood test will reveal whether someone is faced with high risks of cardiovascular attacks. If proven, the patient can be immediately given drugs to thin the blood and prevent heart attacks. (more…)

Football Players Are Vulnerable to Heart Disease

big american football players prone to heart diseaseProfessional rugby of American football players in general can enjoy a longer lifespan than the average people. But, according to a study in America, football players are more likely to die from heart disease.

The research which was reported in the ‘American Journal of Cardiology’ followed more than 3,400 football players from the National Football League (NFL) who were active between the years 1959-1988. This study found that 334 athletes have died in 2007. This amount is only half of the life expectancy in the United States. (more…)
