Low Back Pain is Genetically Inherited

October 06, 2012 By: Roberto Category: Disease and Conditions

A study conducted in 2006 and published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery suggests that over the years many people have suffered disorder of back pain or lumbar disc degeneration. Many people believe if the pain is caused by physical workload or physical exertion.

But recently, further studies conducted showed that the pain or back pain can be caused by genes. Researchers at King’s College London have identified a gene variant PARK2 which is then associated with a common cause of back pain, which is called lumbar disc degeneration. (more…)

Chiropractic Cures Various Health Conditions

February 02, 2010 By: medicmagic Category: Disease and Conditions

There are several medical conditions that can be suitably cured by chiropractic treatment. Not only back pain and slipped or herniated discs, but some other conditions, such as allergies, which is not normally associated with chiropractics, yet many conditions that involve neural pathways are treatable using chiropractic therapy.  Here is a range of conditions that can be treated using non-invasive chiropractic manipulative therapy.

Neck and Back Pain: – The treatment of back pain, and other problems associated with the spine, is a classic application of chiropractic science. Most spinal problems can be resolved using manipulative chiropractic therapy much more effectively than that by surgery.  A number of problems related to back and neck such as low back pain, slipped discs, sciatica, etc can be treated and resolved by chiropractic care. Slipped disc or herniated discs are treated in a much better way by chiropractic

Carpel Tunnel Syndrome: – CTS is caused by a strained nerve in the tunnel of bones formed by the carpals in the wrist. Chiropractic care entails manipulation of the upper spine, elbow and wrist and may also use ultrasound therapy. Two studies were carried out involving 25 and 91 individuals who reported significant improvements in the condition after chiropractic treatment. The second study which involved 91 people concluded that chiropractic was at least as effective as conventional treatment involving drugs and wrist supports. The condition can be caused by a misalignment in the spine, hence the manipulation of the upper spine and neck forms a part of the chiropractic treatment.

Joint Problems: – There are various reasons of joint dysfunction, including osteoarthritis, degradation due to misaligned joints, disc problems and a few more. Chiropractic treatment can realign joints very efficiently, and also resolve disc problems. A lack of flexibility due to osteoarthritis can be improved by chiropractic manipulation accompanied by pain relief.

Whiplash Injuries: – Symptoms include neck pain and stiffness, shoulder and arm pain, visual disturbances and frequent headaches. Physical chiropractic therapy can be used in combination with strengthening exercise to treat the damage caused, and the neck and spine can be adjusted to get you on the road to recovery. Chiropractic therapy for whiplash is aimed to optimize motion in the spine, treat the spinal discs, reduce muscle spasm and develop muscular strength.

Allergies: – Allergic reactions are caused by the immune system responding to a cause which it senses as being pathogenic. The processes that initiate the allergic reaction are passed through the neural system, down the spinal cord to the areas concerned.  Chiropractic science can sometimes be used to help control the allergic reaction by working on the neuro-musculoskeletal system.

Pain: – Pain, such as headaches and other neurological conditions, has many causes.  Sometimes chiropractic care can be used to moderate pain or eliminate it altogether, depending on its source. Common sources of pain that are treatable using chiropractics include trapped nerves, inflamed nerve roots and pressure being exerted on a nerve by, for example, a herniated disc or misaligned bones.

Accidents: – Chiropractic treatment can in accident or injury cases which have resulted in misalignment of the bones in your spine or damage to your neural system. Realignment of bones or gentle chiropractic manipulation of areas of the spine could reduce nerve inflammation and debilitating pain.

There are many more conditions suitable for chiropractic treatment, not all medical. It can be concluded that chiropractic care can be used to treat a range of conditions, some of them having no immediately obvious connection with the area being treated.

The crucial things to remember are that this problem is common (most people get it), painful (incredibly), medically minor (most of the time), and that the cause is nearly always an injury that requires time to heal completely. Medication cannot speed the healing process. (more…)
