Early Detection Does Not Reduce Risk of Death from Prostate Cancer
Based on a long-term study, it is reported that early detection of prostate cancer does not stop the possibility of dying from the disease. A research for over 20 years on 9000 men in Sweden found no difference in death rates from prostate cancer among those who are detected periodically and those who do not.
“Early detection of prostate cancer appears to have no significant effect on mortality,” said Gabriel Sandblom, author of the study as well as a Professor at the Karolinska Institute of Stockholm, as released in the BMJ Online journal, according to Healthday. (more…)
