Lack of Salt Increase Heart Attack and Stroke Risks

lack of saltDoctors always  gives advice to reduce salt consumption because it is not good for health. But now a new study shows the opposite. Reducing salt increases the risk of death from heart attack and stroke.

The American Medical Association made a research for eight years on 3,681 healthy people in Europe who are in their 50s to 60s. In that study it was found that those who consumed at least one teaspoon of salt per day did not show the development of health than those who ate more salt. (more…)

Excessive salt intake would lead to higher blood pressure. In addition, there are three health reasons that force you to control the salt consumption.

1. Salt will make you feel more thirsty
Research carried out by Graham MacGregor, a professor of cardiovascular medicine at St George’s, University of London, UK shows that children who eat foods with a high salt, drink at least two glasses of higher calorie beverages (soft drinks) per week. Same effects were also seen in adults.

So, if you eat foods containing high salt, you tend to be more thirsty and want to drink high-calorie soft drinks. (more…)
