Songbirds Could Spread Low Risk Bird Flu

Golden-crowned kinglet Bird FluBehind their beautiful voices, birds such as sparrows and thrushes apparently carry flu viruses. Although it is the less dangerous form of bird flu, it could be quite dangerous if it is mutated.

The feared mutation of the avian influenza virus carried by the birds, infect pigs and poultry. The same thing had happened to the swine flu outbreak, which led to new virus type H1N1. (more…)
