Vitamin E help protect the heart of former smokersResearchers at Ohio State University showed the importance of vitamin E for heart health of people who had quit smoking. They showed an improvement in vascular function associated with a particular vitamin E consumption.

This result is known after they conducted a study of smokers who were asked to stop for seven days. After quitting smoking, researchers found an increase in blood vessel function by 2.8 percent. For those who took vitamin E in the form of gamma-tocopherol, improved blood vessel function increased by about 1.5 percent. (more…)

vitamin e supplements fragile bonesA recent study suggests that vitamin E could stimulate the cells that causes bone fragility. Study leader, Shu Takeda from Keio University, Tokyo, said that their findings have implications for people who take supplements of vitamin E.

The researcher explained that managing the balance between bone formation cells (osteoblasts) and bone destructive cells (osteoclast) can make the bones strong. Although previous studies showed that vitamin E may be beneficial for bone health, Japanese researchers showed the opposite result.
