The Types of Anemia


Anemia comes from the Greek language, which means lack of blood. Basically anemia caused by lack of red blood cells, or the content of these cells is lower than the hemoglobin in the blood.

Function of hemoglobin is to carry oxygen to all organs. If the levels are reduced then it could bring serious consequences on the health of the body. Below is types of Anemia:

Anemia due to iron deficiency

This is the most common type of anemia. Caused by lack of iron in the body that have an impact on decreasing levels of hemoglobin.

Aplastic anemia

This type of anemia occurs when red blood cell production from bone marrow insufficient body’s needs. This condition is also characterized by the inability of the body to produce a type of blood cell.

Sickle-cell anemia

This is anemia due to genetic factors. The red blood cells form is abnormal, resembling a crescent moon. A number of problems will arise from this unusual red blood cell deformity.

Pernicious anemia

Anemia which is caused by the body lacks of B vitamin.
