According to researchers, a compound in turmeric called curcumin is effective in preventing bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BDP) – a condition that indicates injury and inflammation experienced by premature infants due to respiratory aids fitted.
“Curcumin is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial. So do not be surprised if turmeric gives exceptional properties in premature infants requiring oxygen therapy after birth,” said Dr. Virender Redan of the Los Angeles Biomedical Research.
As reported by the Toronto Sun, more than 67 percent of babies are born prematurely in the United States. Generally, the new abortion mothers aged 22-25 had given birth.
The results then reported in the American Journal of Physiology’s Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology.
