Vegetables and Fruits Are Effective to Overcome Smoking Addiction
There are many types of therapy that are done to overcome the addiction to cigarettes, for example SEFT therapy which is done by lightly tapping specific body points. There is also a therapy to overcome smoking addiction using laser.
But actually, the food you eat is also a determining factor to stop the addiction.
According to the Huffington Post, researchers from University at Buffalo found a link between eating fruits and vegetables with a tobacco-free lifestyle for active smokers.
The study, which was published in the Nicotine and Tobacco Research journal had reviewed 1,000 smokers aged 25 and over. They were given questions about smoking habits and their intake of fruits and vegetables. A year later, they must come again to be asked whether they smoked during those months.
The result showed that participants who ate more fruits and vegetables, will be three times easier to stop or slowly move away from cigarettes.
Other reasons may be because fruit and vegetables can make a person full sooner, so they no longer have the desire to smoke. Secondly, fruits and vegetables are not a supplementary food for tobacco.
The research included in the assessment of Duke University Medical Center in 2007, which states that milk, fruit and vegetables will make a cigarette taste bad. In other words, after eating fruits and vegetables, cigarettes tastes feels very flat on the tongue. Meanwhile, coffee, meat and alcohol can make cigarettes taste good.
So, if you want to modify the lifestyle of smoking, you need to frequently eat foods that makes cigarettes taste bad, like a glass of cold milk, and avoid foods and drinks that make cigarettes taste good, like beer.
