December 04, 2009 By: medicmagic Category: Health

Vaginal odor is a problem that a lot of women live with. Having this issue definitely affects a woman’s self esteem. If you have bad vaginal odor, then you can attest to that statement. You don’t want to go out in public in case the odor seeps through your clothing. You wouldn’t’ want to walk past someone and have them smell your terrible odor. Vaginal odor also affects your sex life. There is no way that you could be intimate with your partner because you worry too much about what they would think. Bad vaginal odor can’t be a turn on in anyway. It’s time to stop letting this odor control your life.

A lot of women assume that their feminine odor is caused from a yeast infection, but that is not true. Bacterial vaginosis is like a yeast infection but it is not as serious, and it is the number one cause as to why women experience that fishy odor down there. You may have noticed that your feminine odor is caused by a nasty discharge. That is bacterial vaginosis or BV.

Bacterial vaginosis is caused by a number of things. The most common cause of BV is not wiping in the correct direction. After you use the washroom, you need to wipe front to back. If you wipe in the opposite direction, you risk the chance of fecal matter making its way inside of you. Another popular cause of getting this infection is wearing too tight of underwear. You need to wear cotton underwear as it allows your most private area to breathe. This keeps the pH of the vagina at a healthy level so it can fight off bacteria.
