To have a consistent and reliable results, measurements are taken at the same phase. According to researchers, the easiest phase to be observed is around the beginning of the cycle which is before or after menstruation.
According to HealthDay, Cholesterol level fluctuations is most noticeable around the fertile period. Just at the peak of fertility, levels of HDL (good cholesterol) would increase compared to the other phases.
The phase is the peak of the estrogen hormone increase. Starting in this phase, the levels of LDL (bad cholesterol), triglycerides and total cholesterol decreased and reaches its lowest point just before menstruation.
This was revealed in a study at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. The results were published recently in the latest edition of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
This examination involved a number of female participants, with only 5 percent who have a total cholesterol level above 200 mg / dL.
